How walkable is downtown Revelstoke?
You’ll find that the majority of downtown Revelstoke is easily walkable. Walking is a great way to take in the sights, grab a coffee, and explore the town at your own pace.
From one side of town to the other is approximately a 20-minute walk. For example, if you’re staying in the north end of town, such as the VRGE, and you wanted to head down to Rumpus Beer Company, the walk will take approximately 23 minutes.
Getting to the airport?
The nearest major airport from Revelstoke is Kelowna International Airport, YLW, located approximately 2hrs 30mins away by car. Revelstoke Transit buses serve key areas in Revelstoke, including Big Eddy, Southside and the hospital. Revelstoke Transfers has partnered with the City of Revelstoke, Revelstoke Mountain Resort and BC Transit to link Revelstoke with Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Revelstoke Transit buses run regularly from Columbia Park, Big Eddy, through downtown and on to Revelstoke Mountain Resort. These typically run once per hour or more often at peak times. How long does it take to get from downtown to Revelstoke Mountain Resort?
By local bus it’s very easy to get to Revelstoke Mountain Resort. From Grizzly Plaza on Mackenzie Avenue, which is the centre of downtown, it takes approximately 13 minutes to reach Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Check out the full schedule here.
How available are local taxis?
Like most things in a small mountain town, it is a good idea to plan your transportation in advance. You can’t guarantee you’ll be able to call a taxi company and get a ride right away, especially late at night. If you need to get up to places like Basecamp Resorts and the Coast Hillcrest Hotel late at night after the Resort Shuttle has stopped running, we strongly recommend booking a taxi ahead of time. It will save you the hassle and ensure you get where you need to go safely and comfortably.
When are the peak periods?
It won’t come as a surprise that Revelstoke is busy throughout the winter season, with skiers and snowboarders flocking to enjoy world-class conditions. February is especially popular, it offers a great balance of great snow conditions and slightly longer daylight hours.
The Christmas and winter season holidays as well as weekends tend to be high traffic times, both on the mountain and around the town. To make the most of your visit be sure to book your accommodation, taxis and travel early, especially if you’re visiting during these peak periods.
